A jogger in Marlow, England, was recently attacked in broad daylight, prompting police to release a composite sketch of the man they believe to be responsible. The early-evening assault left the 45-year-old victim uninjured, and investigators are still trying to determine a motive, the Maidenhead Advertiser reports.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when the victim and her husband were going for a run together. Authorities say the suspect grabbed the victim's hair and pulled her to the ground as she and her husband ran through a path connecting two streets. Upon hearing his wife's screams, her husband turned around and put at stop to the assault.
"The area is a route used by lots of runners and dog walkers and I'm confident someone would have seen the person," police chief Richard Martin told the news source. "I urge anyone with any information to contact me."
Joggers looking to boost their personal safety while out for a run may want to buy pepper spray. When discharged into the face of an assailant, the device will temporarily disable them, allowing a potential victim to escape.
