Police in DeKalb, Georgia, are on the hunt for a man who they believe sexually assaulted a woman at a local church recently. The suspect is believed to be 6-foot-2 and between 40 and 50 years old, Stone Mountain-Redan Patch reports.
The attack happened around 3:30 p.m. on February 26, but very little is known about the specific events. The victim, a 53-year-old woman, was working at the church when she opened the door for a man asking for help, who then beat, assaulted and robbed her. She was taken to the hospital and is currently improving, according to the news source.
The biggest lead in the case is the stolen cell phone that police believe the assailant stole from the victim and later sold. They are asking for information from those who may have been in the area of the church and witnessed anybody selling such merchandise.
Individuals looking for a way to boost their personal safety may want to buy pepper spray. Experts recommend practicing with the device ahead of time to ensure that it is used properly if the need ever arises.
