A woman was recently assaulted in Albany, New York, as she walked home alone after picking up a pizza. The attacker allegedly followed the victim home before forcing her into the building's foyer and then attacking her, the Times Union reports.
The incident began when the 20-year-old victim picked up her food at around 3:25 a.m., at which point the assailant began his pursuit. Once the victim returned to her residence, the man reportedly pushed her inside and began choking her. According to the news source, he demanded her wallet and began fishing for money.
It was while he was preoccupied with looking for cash that she was able to alert the authorities and the man took off running. Police are looking for a man in his 30s with long dreadlocks, the news provider reports.
Individuals who are looking for ways to boost their personal safety may want to buy pepper spray. When used correctly, the device can make it difficult for a potential assailant to see and breathe, allowing a victim to get to safety.
