What was supposed to be a day of celebration turned to chaos in Gilbert, Arizona, when a recent wedding reception became violent. Police had to use pepper spray to quell the altercation, and the fight could result in charges being filed against at least two of the people involved, The Arizona Republic reports.
The first call to police came in around 8:30 p.m. with reports of around 30 people fighting on the dance floor in the backyard of a nearby home. There had apparently been a disagreement that escalated quickly. A lone officer arrived on the scene, and after discharging pepper spray, he called for backup. Despite the fight, the groom had nothing but good things to say about the authorities who responded.
"The police did a great job," he told the news source. "No one was injured. No one was arrested. This is something we need to move on from and live our lives."
As this situation proves, pepper spray can be an effective way to diffuse a potentially dangerous situation. For members of the general public, pepper spray is an ideal personal safety device and can temporarily disable an attacker.
