Pennsylvania woman attacked while pumping gas

A woman in Union Township, Pennsylvania, was recently violently assaulted as she pumped gas, and police are furiously searching for a suspect. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. and police believe that the perpetrator has been involved in at least one other similar attempted robbery in the area, ABC affiliate WTAE reports.

Authorities say that the suspect approached the victim and struck her in the head with a hammer. After he hit her, he attempted to take her purse but was unable to and fled the scene. Those in the area described an incredibly violent assault.

"He actually, like, drug her across the center aisle," witness Edwin Culley told the news source. "She had blood pouring everywhere."

Individuals who are looking to prevent falling victim to a similar fate may want to consider carrying pepper spray to boost their personal safety. Experts suggest that those who have purchased the device should practice with it so they know how to use it if the need ever arises.
