Man injured in Georgia home invasion

A man in South Fulton, Georgia, was recently pistol whipped after an pair unidentified assailants forced his way inside the victim's home. Police are investigating the incident and are in the process of determining whether anything of value was taken from the man's house, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

According to police, the homeowner was watching television inside his house when the two armed men kicked down his door. After a brief struggle, the victim was hit with the pistol and the gunmen continued inside. The victim managed to make his way to a neighbor's house, which is where he called police, according to the news source.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that the rate of violent crime has declined since 1993, but there were still more than 1.4 million instances of such crime in 2009 yet only around 580,000 arrests.

Individuals concerned about their home safety may want to consider storing pepper spray somewhere in their abode. The device has shown to be an effective way to disable a potential attacker and will allow a victim to get to safety.
