The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m., and the suspect apparently targeted the victim as soon as he stepped off the train. When a bystander noticed the man threatening the victim, he launched into action and confronted the man. However, he was still able to hit the woman in the back of the head, which knocked her on the tracks.
The victim suffered significant injuries and was knocked unconscious, but luckily she was able to be pulled from the tracks shortly before the F train arrived at the East Broadway station.
