A woman in Orange County, Texas, was attacked recently while she was walking through Northway Park. Police say the victim suffered minor injuries but had some of her possessions stolen, according to The Record.The victim told police that she was walking through the park to find a place to sit while she smoked a cigarette. As she approached a picnic table, she was attacked from behind and pulled to the ground by her hair. Once there, investigators say she was hit several times in the face before the man stole her backpack and fled the scene.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the rate of violent crime in 2009 was about 16.9 per every 1,000 people over the age of 12. Of those, 2.1 were instances of robbery.
